trouble compiling mame!? :(
« on: September 30, 2015, 11:38:59 am »
Hey guys and thanks for reading. In the past ive been able to compile mame, with no problem, using both mr dos old compilation method, and mamekaze mame compiler. But now it seems no matter what i do, im running into errors. First off, im running windows 10 on my main pc.. and since i thought maybe thats the issue, ive tried on the xp pc im using for the arcade and still errors.

Im trying to build a 32 bit mame .149 with just the no nag/white box hi score diff.. I am using a 64 bit system to do the compiling tho.

Now.. Ive gone through the mame site, and downloaded the MinGW Files i needed. Ive tried the "both" got 64 and 32 bit, as well as the 64, and 32 bit seperate on respective pcs. I followed mr dos instructions a hundred times and always get an error. Mamecompiler by headkaze is somewhat confusing me, because the tutorial on his site does not match the new updated program. Is build tools the new Mingw? Looking at his tutorial it would have you go to your MinGW folder. But in the new version it has "buildtools folder", "source folder" etc. Ive downloaded build tools and installed the files i guess as im supposed to? I feel so stupid as ive done this many times before, and nothign is working for me.

My build tools folder is c:\buildtools.  When it asked for the source folder.. what source? even the old mamecompiler asked for the source folder and i cannot figure out what source it is looking for? In the build tools folder i created a patch folder with my diff, and the mame source folder with my mame source. By default it has the "Source" at c:\buildtools\src.. but there was no src so i added the folder myself.

After my directories are set, i add the patch , it seems to apply with no problem.. i click go, and get tons of errors. Mr dos way will run the makemame command, and then end up with errors. Ive tried this all on the actual 32 bit machine im compiling for, and i get errors as well. its getting to the point where between bouncing back and forth on pcs, downloading different mingws, and all this, im just getting a headache. Can someone PLEASE give me a perfect walk through, on how to compile MAME.149 With no nag patch, FOR A 32 BIT SYTEM... I can do it either on the 32 bit machine, or my windows 10 64 bit. So if youre going to link me to the appropriate files, please let me know if what build i should be doing it on. If anyone already uses .149 with the mkchamp patch, it is possible to just upload the exe?

these pics are from mame compiler obviously, the dos errors are from mr dos way. If there is a log or anything i can post let me know. Every thing is on my c drive

to make my cluster *#@$ of a problem a little clearer.. I just tried again, on my windows xp 32 bit system. I followed the EXACT directions here http://mrdo.mameworld.info/compile.php

When i get to patching, i run the cmd file, enter patchmame hi_149, and it seems to patch no problem.. Then i type "makemame" and it loads for a while like it might work, then i get this error.

Im beyond frustrated as ive never had a problem, and this is the last thing i need to do before i drop of this pc to my friend.

Why 0.149 ??  Try with the latest 0.166.

Token,

I also need to recompile mame 0.149, but am having errors such as have been listed here.  I can't seem to PM you, but would like it if your offer for mame 149 with no nag and highscore would be extended my way.  ;)
