Hm... trying to get the picture here... Daphne is for ROMs/CHD's and Singe is for the CD/DVD/LD - right?
Daphne is for arcade games that originally used laserdiscs.
Some of these aren't emulated in MAME.
Singe is an offshoot of Daphne that is for the light gun games that originally used laserdiscs.
The authors of Singe also made a version that can play the holographic game Time Traveler by Sega.
All three of those utilize video from the PC or DVD version of the games released by Digital Leisure.
As part of the setup process, the video is ripped from your disc. (unless of course you acquire the entire package already set up elsewhere)
Stay away from the very old pre-windows XP versions of the games, as they were originally very low resolution.
Time Traveler requires a very specific version to work. (whichever one I bought is wrong and I never got it working)
The authors of Singe also created a separate emulator for ActionMax games which originally used VHS tapes.
I have not messed with it and have no idea how it works.
