Help - Getting my system going again
« on: September 24, 2015, 01:23:45 pm »

Looking for MAME help. I disassembled my MAME machine over 5 years ago when I moved and want to get it up and running again. After sitting for 5 years the computer died. Tried to get the computer working, but it just isn't worth it. I took the hard drive out and put it in another computer, but I am getting a run drive error when I try and run Key Wiz. Anyone have the time and patience to help me get my system up and running again? Plus I don't know what has changed in the MAME hobby in the last 5 plus years.

Thanks

Gerry

So I added my mame hard drive to another computer, but I am still booting the computer with the old existing drive. Do you know if this is why I might be getting the run time error? Also, my old mame computer had a ps2 plug. This new one does not. I bought a converter to plug the KeyWiz into usb port. Would this be a problem?

Thanks

Gerry

re-install key wiz?

This is where I would start. You may need to do the same with your frontend and reconfigure as all your mame/art/etc paths will be different if you have the old drive in as a slave.

For MAME itself, if it worked before, it should still work. Grab a new set of roms and mame if you want to play anything added or updated in the last 5 years.
