SNES Box Scans
« on: January 05, 2004, 02:31:41 am »
I've just finished adding the SNES Box Scans to my site.  These can be used with Front End skins such as those CAVE created for Mamewah.  Details are as follows:

USA SNES Box Fronts - 682 of 787  (5MB) Resolution = 200x140 (jpg)

As usual all are in Goodtools naming format.  Download here.
A BIG thanks to TalkingOctopus for once again providing much needed webspace for hosting this stuff!  ;D

I'm currently working on the Genesis Box Scans so keep an eye out for those in the coming weeks.

EDIT:  It seems the correct page was not uploaded properly the first time and was actually linking to the NES box art!!  :P  It is now fixed, so please ensure you have the correct file.

I just looked at your site and noticed my utilities on the page?!?

First off Oscars File renamer was not written by me, it's a commercial program.  The generic artwork renamer was written by me.   I'm sure you didn't mean any harm but I don't like it when people host my files and don't included a link to the lazarus homepage.

My programs are free and I encourage others to host or use them but it's important that a link to the laz site is included so they know specifically where it came from and my other utilities that are available.

Sorry Howard, I noticed that mistake last week and actually changed it, but forgot to upload the fixed page.

I've now fixed it and added appropriate links.  If you want me to remove or change the links then let me know.  Sorry for the mix up.

Is the artwork renamer still available at your own website??  I've been there quite a few times, but have never seen a link to it on any of your pages??  It doesn't seem to be listed under "misc utilities" which is where I'd expect it to be found?

Thanks!   by the way .. is CAVE planning to do any more image sets for other emualtors (Daphne/Pinball/etc)?   If not, I may create a set to match his look, but I don't want to duplicate effort or steal his thunder.   ;)

CAVE hasn't meantioned anything to me about any future skins for the other systems etc.  It'd be great to have some skins for the less popular systems, so feel free to create them!

UPDATE:  There are now also 55 new Gameboy Colour Box scans added to the site.   That means there are now 506 out of the 547 USA GBC Box Scans done  ;D

I've just added them to the original rar file, so you'll need to download the file again to get the new ones.

I think i've asked this before, but then again maybe not.  I should probably just ask Cave himself, so if you are reading this Cave - this is for you.  For all of his(your) skins - there are many places for screenshots/boxart/cartiridge/etc - sometimes 3 sections.  Does he(you) have all of these for every emulator there is a skin for?  I can't imagine that.  Stuzza's site is awesome, and has a lot of stuff - but not THAT much stuff.  Just curious if you have all of that artwork, or just wishful thinking for the future, or simply supplying a template skin just in case someone else has that many.

BTW - awesome work stuzza!

Luxury:  I think quite a few people asked CAVE the same question when he originally brought out his skins and I'm pretty sure the answer is no, he does not have complete artwork sets to go with all the places he allowed on his skins.  Hence why I started gathering the box scans so people would have something to fill in all the blank boxes.

Unfortunately CAVE included places for the cartridge scans also on many of the skins, which in my experience have been much harder to find than the Box scans.  So far the only decent set of cartridge scans I have found have been for Genesis.

Sorry i don't have them all, i just had a few box scans grabbed from here and there. I made the skins like that in the off chance that someone would put together a site with as many artwork as possible, and thanks to stuzza there is and the collection at his site is getting bigger and bigger.

As for more skins, i don't plan on doing any more myself at the moment, feel free to add to them CM  :).
