Completed: Quick control panel completion
« on: September 15, 2015, 08:10:50 pm »
A friend of a friend is into arcades, but lacks time to work on them much anymore. He passed off this CP from a golden tee cab he converted into mame. Basically i just had to drill out the player controls in the wood and plexi, install the buttons and joysticks, and run the wiring and leds. Quick 2 day job, just waiting on some daisy chains from arcade paradise. I personally hate the mixed leds, the art, and all of it lol. But this is what he gave me along with all the parts, and this is what he asked. I will say i love the diagonal hits on the zippy joysticks. One problem was there was already button holes in random places, so working around that sucked. The trackball being off of the art drives me crazy as well lol.. BUUT alas, as far as he is concerned, job well done.

Looks like someone missed the measurement on both the size and placement -- Also why the shaped surround when the CP itself is rectangular ??? Looks like that design was made for a shaped front edge instead of rectangular shape.  :dunno

I don't know and I don't know lol. I did not do the art, nor the trackball or the plexi around the trackball. It was given to me as seen in the first picture.  I assume that's where the ball was for the golden tee and it was as good as they can get on a cheap conversion art? As I said, I simply was asked to add both Player setups, install buttons and wire it up.  Snazzy little setup non the less. I think the guy just wants it in working plug and play condition.

OMFG.  Get a large round decal printed out and center it over that trackball hole.

yea, that off-center trackball makes my eye twitch.

also, was that exposed piano hinge original?
If you can read this, it means Photobucket's money grab ruined my signature photos.

Trust me the trackball makes me want to stab myself. Not my problem nor anything I can do about it. As for the hinge, I don't know. The first pic of the cp with the cabinet was his picture he sent me to see the condition. So I don't know about the hinge or the cabinet.

Don't stab yourself: stab whomever* thought that was acceptable in the first place! Ugh!

* If it was you, stab away!
