Haruman's MiniTendo: Anyone built this?
« on: September 03, 2015, 12:03:17 pm »
Just got myself started in a Minitendo kit...super impressed with it all, and Lee is a great guy with excellent service. Recommend highly.

Anyway, I am wondering if anyone has built this little Minitendo kit. I am sort of stumped at what sort of method to use to make the control panel attach to the cabinet with hinges or some other method to allow access without using stationary brackets. It's so small that there's not a lot of room for hinges. You've got the speaker grille to the far left of the front panel which I can't attach a hinge to, and admin buttons the right. In the center, you have the joystick mounting plate so that's a tough one too.

I've got a couple of these:

If hinges aren't gonna work, I was also thinking of a couple of these little guys attached to the small batons that the panel rests on. Not the most secure, though:

They're a little on the large side, but they seem like they'll work, but I'll only have room for one. If anyone has experience with this kit and knows what's up, let me know!

Thanks!

I've used cupboard magnets to hold my control panel in place. Works well for me in tight spots. I've done it for both my mini DK and mini Qbert builds in my signature.

I've used these. But just find the strongest ones you can and use at the front and back of the control panel. Or put a cleat on the front like a real DK cab.

Excellent suggestion...thank you!

Great looking cabs, by the way. This is my first bartop so the tight spots are new to me. :)

Thanks! Appreciate the compliments.

If you haven't done so, you should post your progress under the "Project Announcement" section. I'm sure everyone would enjoy following your progress.
