Light Gun Problems
« on: September 03, 2015, 08:07:52 am »
Hey guys, I have two issues here. Recently I bought two Aimtrak guns and just in the process of setting them up. I have them kind of working in MAME and would like to get them working in Epsxe also. I say kind of working in MAME because i can move the cursor fine and shoot, but I am unable to reload by shooting offscreen. I have the correct buttons setup in the Aimtrak program (mouse left click onscreen, mouse right click offscreen), clicked apply and even when I shoot offscreen, the cursor does indeed jump to the bottom left corner of the screen like it should. I can sometimes reload by shooting close to the edge of the screen but mostly it dosen't work. I just went and had another try of it actually, and it seems to be reloading if I aim just outside the screen. I have GLSL enabled to get the curved edges and scanlines and it has some black space between the edge of the "curved CRT" screen and the physical edge of my screen. If i shoot inside that area it reloads.

The next issue I am having is getting the light gun working in Epsxe. I select the Gcon for Pad 1 in the controller settings, get in the game and press F5 to switch to the Gcon. I am able to see the little blue crosshair but when I move my gun around, the crosshair moves unbelievably fast, to the point where I am unable to even shoot the huge Time Crisis "Story Mode" box.

The room I am in is pretty dark and there are no real light sources that could be interfering with the LED bar.

If anyone has had these issues or know of any possible fixes it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks -Mike

Hi Mike,

Have you read the AimTrak Setup Guide from Ultimarc?

It runs through how to set it all up with MAME.

https://www.ultimarc.com/AimTrak%20Setup%20Guide.pdf

You can also look at a video from GameRoomSolutions which helped me..

In regrds to ePSXE, I have not tried this yet so I can't help, sorry!

Hey Jimbo, thanks for the quick response. I have gone through the setup guide and I have the guns working, but with the previous mentioned problems.

I believe you need a special plugin called Nuvee for the guns to work on ePSXe.

I was thinking that, but there is no way to change the plugin, as far as I can tell?
