No picture with universal chassis from aliexpress
« on: September 02, 2015, 09:19:49 pm »
I bought a few universal chassis from Aliexpress for myself and a  couple friends to try out. I have a Mortal Kombat with a 25K7000 that has issues with the chassis so I figured I would try one out. I realize the Chinese universal chassis are not the same quality as an original but I wanted to give one a go anyway.

I hooked everything up. I of course double checked the yoke readings on my tube first and everything checked out good, but I unfortunately get no image at all, no neck glow, etc. I have tested two of these so far and I have the same issue. Is there anything I could be missing? I have the power, neckboard ground, yoke connections and video input all connected.

Here is a pic of the chassis I have:

Has anyone had any luck with this exact chassis? I have also tried it with a different tube and iso.

What is the brand and model of that replacement chassis?

Pictures of how you connected it. I hope you did not plug the power cord into a wall outlet since this chassis appears to require an  isolation transformer.

Did this chassis come with instructions or schematic?

Did you Americanize it first before powering it up?

It's connected correctly. I didn't plug it into the wall. It's plugged into an iso.

There were no instructions or schematic.  The only information I have on the brand or model number is what is on the picture I posted. Looks like the brand is "Se-Cai"

Here is a link to the item:

I bought 3 of these. I tested two of them and they didn't work and them the third one worked. I think two of them may be DOA

What do you mean by Americanizing it?

Americanizing means removing the phony baloney non-standard Chinese/Japanese video signal connector and power cord and replacing with American standard connectors & cord.

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,97584.msg1029468.html#msg1029468

These universal monitor chassis do NOT come configured for conventional USA standard cables or connectors out of the box. So in essence they are not plug n play until they get Americanized.

the vast majority of chinese built chassis are absolute rubbish,i must have tested 20 different types in the last 10 years-most either arrive non working or fail in quick time.
the only chassis from the far east i wouid bother with are wei ya or rodotron

there is a reason they are priced at $33

I found some other company also selling this Se-Cai chassis:

http://arcadejapan.co.uk/Se-Cai-CGA-Monitor-Chassis-25%22-29%22-15khz

In the fine print it says this chassis does not provide an output to a degaussing coil (that's not good).

Here's another one:
