Hi guys,
I've recently purchased my first candy cab (Namco Cyber Lead) which runs a Nanao MS9 dual resolution 15/24khz monitor. I've also purchased (and just received) a JVS-PAC and bought a cheap Dell desktop (Core2Duo, 4GB RAM) to run MAME on.
I'm now in the process of trying to work out how to connect the PC to the arcade monitor without damaging it. I've done a LOT of reading and so I understand that I need to force the desktop to output 15khz to the monitor (I'm assuming 640x480 will suit the MAME setup fine, otherwise it seems possible to tell MAME to adjust the resolution as necessary for each game)
My question is: I see connected to the installed JVS-JAMMA board what looks like a USB (which plugs into the JVS-PAC for controls) and what looks like a VGA connector. Is it as simple as connecting the VGA cable to the PC, turning it on and waiting for it to boot before I fire up the arcade monitor and making sure it is configured for 640x480 (and maybe setting it up so that it fires up the MAME frontend straight away) or is it more complex than that and I need to run soft15khz or similar?
PC is currently just running onboard Intel GMA 4500 at the moment (which can be used with soft15khz but limited to 5 resolutions, it can certainly run 640x480 stock) but I'm happy to pick up a cheap Radeon card if it'll help my cause.
Thank you
