Need Spy Hunter sound POT's

I have a sit down Spy Hunter. Both volume POT's need replaced. They don't really have any markings and I don't thing they are original anyways. The manual doesn't have any info. Does anyone know what size I need and where would be the best place to order from?

If the pots are still somewhat 'functional' (I assume they're just noisy/scratchy?) you could measure them with a multimeter as you turn it to get an idea how many ohm's is appropriate. Of course that won't work if nothing's going through...

One works ok... one stays at full volume and blows your ears apart!
There are 3 leads on these... how exactly do I measure?

With power off, measure the resistance between the outer tabs.

Ok, well it seems I may have another issue. Tested the POT and it appears to be a 1K and working.
With the ohm meter on it turning the POT moves the meter from 0 to 1K.... So, I'm guessing there is an issue with one of the boards or wiring....
Any thoughts on where to start?

Regardless of the measurements I would replace both volume pots - it's a cheap way to narrow down the problems (this and future).
Next I would swap the amp boards and see if the problem moves along or not.

Hopefully the problem is within any of the amp boards - since they are more simple in design and should be easy to replace or fix with new components.
If the problem is within the Cheap Squeak Deluxe board it might be more complex/expensive.

Replaced both POTs with no luck.
Switched the amp boards and no change.

One of the connectors going to the main boards involved with the sound has a few loose pins. Going to replace those and see if that helps.

Ok, I finally got back to this project. I fixed the sound issue. It ended up simply being a bad wire in the harness.

So with that fixed I went to the cosmetic work... fixed all the wood, new artwork, powdercoated metal, new T moulding... etc.

Well, it looks pretty nice, unfortunately now after all that it doesn't want to work.

All I get is a bunch of garbage on the screen and a fast flashing LED on the cheap squeak... no response from credit button or controls....

I don't really have any idea where to start trouble shooting this... any advice?

Good that the sound issues is solved and that you gave it a general overhaul. To bad that it stopped working.
Is it possible that all other activities has caused some glitch/loose contact in any connectors or IC's? Next after that I would verify all voltages.

Well a couple weeks ago before I started all the cosmetic work I wanted to at least resolve the sound problem. I haven't been playing this because with the sound the was it was it was simply not enjoyable having your ears blown apart... (and I listen to my music very loud!!... but this is different!

This is when this issue began... so, before I even started the cosmetic work with all the flipping and moving around... however, a few reboots and it came on and working... fixed the sound and this is the first I've tried it since. But now I can't get it going.

When I get back later today I'll check for anything loose or obvious and hopefully get lucky.
If not I'll post a picture of the screen I'm getting and more details.

Make sure that the +5V is +5V - measured at an IC on the board, not in the cable harness or at the PSU since there could be a significant voltage drop on the way...

When I was there yesterday I just checked at the cpu and all was fine.
I removed the board set... reseated what I think were the rom chips.
Reseated all edge connectors.
One of the ground connector was off at the old psu so I put that  back on.
Reseated a couple chips on the cheap squeak since this is the board that has the flashing led when not working.

After doing all this it now works... no idea what actually did it.
However, my colors are now way off so I have to see if there are any kind of adjustments I can make.
Whoever had this before me has some kind of extra circuit board for the video... the guy I got this from said it was made by cdjump from over at the klov forum... I have yet to try and contact him.
I will get some pics up by tomorrow.

So that is my current status.

Great news. The video(color issue should be something that can be fixed. Can you post any picture or video of the problem?

Seems that that cdjump dude has helped several Spy Hunter owners...

I don't have this at my house at the moment but I'm heading to where it is now. I will try to make some adjustment while I'm there. Hopefully just something simple caused by all the moving and flipping during the restore. I should be back in 4-5 hours. I'll post results and or pics of the problem.

Ok, so great news for me....
All is well 
Everything looking and running great.
I'd say all my problems were do to bad wiring connections.
Everything 100% at the moment.

I'll post some before and after shots over the weekend in case anyone would like to see how the project turned out.

Sometimes dirty edge connectors are the culprit.  If it happens again I would give them a good cleaning.
