Mame and Joytokey Switched Keys Problems

Hi.
I have a really strange problem i can't sort of..... ???
I'm using mame 0.153 compiled with nonag, directinput etc....
With it i'm using joytokey software, configured that when i press a button for short time it send 1 as key and when i press it for more than 500ms it just send 5 as key.
This is really useful for me so i can use one button only for the start and for the credits.
Strange thing is that in mame this only works for some games, while for some others don't.....
For example if i play with ghouls'n'ghosts it works fine and if i press the button for some more than 500ms just add a credit, while if i play with ghosts'n'goblins for example it doesn't works and if i press the button more than 500ms just it doesn't do anything.....
For neogeo games this is working fine and for street fighter 3 no....

I cannot understand why.....
Seems like mame for some games act differents than others...
If was directinput fault this should never works, right??

Could someone help me please?
