First off I will start off that I am a complete newb in the world of arcade repair. Cosmetic is cake. Internal components not so much. I found a Galaga upright machine for a great price at a garage sale today. Owner let me know that the picture scrolled and the picture was off-centered and seems to show a doubled image. from the left and they did not know how to fix it. I have a cousin who did arcade repair in the 80's and 90's who I should be able to get to do my fixes (but he is always rushed on time), but I wanted the opinions of this board of what may be the problem so I can relay it to him. I noticed there are not pot adjustment controls to center it, so I don't want to risk any harm to myself or the machine.

1. is this a common problem?
2. would a cap fix do the job?
3. is this worth the cost of repair? (The cabinet has cracks in the overlay, side art is cracked)
a poor video showing whats going on is here:
My other thought was that I could just gut the cabinet and mame it out and sell the internal components, which I do have experience with.
I got a little in over my head, after finding a nintendo red tent that I only needed to do a little wiring, and thought, "yeah, I can fix this too!"
Any help is greatly appreciated.
