Electrical Wiring Question

I'm working a 13" CGA Ducksan/Samsung monitor recently stripped from a Merit MegaTouch 6. Having removed it from the Merit system, I'm looking to connect this directly to the PC and a wall outlet if that's possible.

Looking at the pic below, can I connect a power cord to the circled area and connect this right to a wall outlet? Would I need to ground anything or do some other tricky wiring job?

Was it originally plugged directly into the wall?  Most monitors (older) need an isolation transformer between them and the wall.  You should confirm this before plugging anything in.  You should also make sure that the monitor frame is on the same ground path as the power ground.  Bob roberts has a basic AC wiring diagram that should clear this up--see his site and look for basic AC wiring near the bottom.

Actually , on the opposite side of the monitor, it reads to not use an isolation transformer when working with this monitor. That's why I was hoping I could just wire it directly.

There was no transformer in the little Merit cab, and the monitor was mfg. in 96.

I worked on many of these Ducksan monitors. These have built-in switching power supplies and do NOT need an isolation transformer. Go to the hardware store and buy a cheap GROUNDED (3-wire) extension cord (of your desired length) and chop off & discard the female end. Strip back about 6 inches of the outer jacket to expose the 3 wires inside. Hook up the Black power cord wire to the black Ducksan monitor wire. Same goes for the white wire. Now crimp on a red 'ring' terminal to the green power cord wire and screw it to a convenient place on the metal monitor frame. Now you can plug it into an ordinary wall outlet.

Ya know, I have what you mentioned right in my garage. Looks like I'll be making a power cord tonight.
