makvision 2929 blowing HOT
« on: August 14, 2015, 08:19:42 am »
I have a makvision C2929D that keeps blowing the HOT and burning up the 1k resistor at R68. Any suggestions as where to look next?

When I turned it on after replacing those parts I got a high pitched squeal and a few clicks followed by a puff of smoke from the resistor.

any help is appreciated

q20 seems OK. The HOT shorts immediately and the resistor smokes, but isn't an instant failure. d21 is fine also.

no luck with those caps. I replaced everything once more and still have R68 smoking with some high pitch whines and clicking. Oddly enough I pulled the HOT off and it tested fine this time around.

I couldn't put anymore time into it. Installed a 26" LCD and will save the chassis for a rainy day. thanks for the help
