  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
I'm starting to compare MAME to actual arcade units and noticing differences.  Might be naive but I thought MAME was a perfect match to the arcade counterpart?  Don't get me wrong, the games are basically identical but take TMNT for example.  On the first level - that fire on the bottom looks better on the arcade than the MAME version (not just CRT vs LCD - the actual graphic and movement of the flame looks better).  Is this just me or do others agree?  I just thought MAME dumped the PCB off of the arcade unit similar to how SNES roms are 1 for 1 match of the cartridge.

Mame is great and all, but sometimes it's not perfect with emulating all games. Just look up the Donkey Kong sound debacle.
This is exactly why I use mame as a sampling option. If I like a certain game enough, I'll hunt down the real PCB for keeps.

I don't know if this is a known issue or perhaps a difference in board revisions or something. But, if you have a TMNT you can record to show the difference, I'd suggest you post on MameWorld or on MameTesters to let the devs know.

I ran the game on my dedicated TMNT and on my MAME cab, they look identical to me
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

Dude, shut up or he can't try to pimp his PCB for more money.

I actually agree. I went home and compared myself to my own mame cab and it does look identical.  I was looking at someone online when I made this post.
