Resolution Switcher for NANAO ms8-26su Monitor
« on: July 29, 2015, 03:09:02 pm »
I have an idea to move over from the Arcade VGA 3000 in my cab now to a MSI Radeon RX2600 Pro.

Install ATOM-15K

Use CRT EMU XP-64bit drivers (already using GroovyMame64).

But man wouldn't playing medium res horizontal games just be that much more awesome in their native res. Problem is I don't want to have to reach in and switch the wire from Standard Res to Medium res each time...

I was thinking about building a two way switch on the top of my cab that will switch the monitor from Standard 15K res to Medium 21K res.

I feel that it wont damage the monitor.. Ken (and everyone else) what is everyone else's thoughts on this idea?

Thank you!

You definitely don't want to do this while it's on cause you'd kill the HOT and who knows what else.... but as long as the switch is capable of the high voltages/currents in the horizontal system (possibly up to 1000 volts)  and is of a "break before make" configuration...it should be possible.

If I was going to attempt this i'd use a few relays to cut the power...switch the feed...then power back up. maybe a microcontroller?
