Mala with GroovyMame: having weird sounds
« on: July 28, 2015, 05:37:24 pm »
Is anyone running GroovyMame 163 with Mala 1.820?

When I run roms just using GroovyMame 163, everything is perfect. However, when using Mala, the sound is completely off and just sounds weird. Additionally, I cannot configure MAME in the Mala settings (it crashes each time I try, I have attached my mala log). Is mala not using the ini s associated with my Groovymame application?

Are the two most current versions, just not compatible right now? Does anyone have a working combination? Also, should I post in the Mala sub too?

Thanks

I found out what was going on (posting here if anyone else runs into the same problem). When running roms through GroovyMame, all games would use the mame.ini. However, when using the command prompt to run a rom in GroovyMame (which mala and other frontends use), it would ignore the mame.ini. However, if I made a mame.ini for a specific rom, the command prompt/Mala would use it for that rom. Therefore, my temporary fix was to just create an ini for all my roms. I say temporary because if I want to make a change to the general settings, I am going to have to make it to each rom's ini.

This sounds most strange. What makes you sure mame.ini is being ignored when launching a game from MaLa? Is your mame.ini in your main MAME folder and not in the INI sub-folder?

No way.

Just run cmd.exe and cd into GM's folder, then launch "groovymame.exe romname". It will work.

That will break GM's ability to apply automatic per-game settings (e.g. syncrefresh/triplebuffer/prescale options).

Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.
