Can you identify this PS1 game?
« on: January 03, 2004, 11:00:47 pm »
A long time ago, I played this game at a friends house.  Below is a screenshot hand drawn image in M$ Paint.

ill try to recall the game as best as i can.

at the top a row of blocks would "roll" down.  for each level that was cleared another row of blocks was stacked on top.  the way to clear the level was to move black (or other color blocks) in the way.  also, it got fast each level.

for each block that you did not prevent, a row behind you would disappear, effectively shorting your time allotted to complet the level.

i remember it as a fun game.  if anyone can tell me the name, i would be very appreciative.

thanks

Re:Can you identify this PS1 game? [Intelligent Qube]

Interesting that you'd bring up Intelligent Qube now. I discovered it two weeks ago and have been hooked since. It plays great on a cabinet since it only needs movement (joystick) and three buttons.

For those of you with ePSXe and/or who are still expanding your PSX collection, I really recommend this game. It's kinda like Klax, Columns, and a little like Q-Bert too. It's basically a puzzle type game that gets faster with each level. Strategically remove the cube-shaped blocks as they roll toward you and either crush you or drive you backwards off the cliff. Simple, but difficult to get really good at. Certainly unique.

I gotta say that the screenshot posted looks more like a 3-D graph than a game  ;).  However, I use epsxe and wouldn't mind giving it a try.  I love those puzzle game.

ePSXe uses the actual playstation discs.  However, you can make an image of the disc on the hard drive and then use images.

Well, I did post it as a screenshot, but I actually drew it in MSpaint.

I felt that way when I was looking for Worms Armageddon a year or so ago. It was selling for like $90 for used copies on half.com just because people knew it was rare. I got it for like $25 I think on eBay but it took like 10 auctions before I won one at a price that wasn't totally out of control. I guess market demand basically dictates what you'll pay...

I've seen IQ .bin images around in the usual haunts on the Internet if you can live without the box and manual and all that.

For those looking for screenshots, you can find them here:

Looks like a new version is available for the PS2. Maybe you can get that cheaper than the PSX version.
