Please post Your monitor specs from VMmaker.

For 640x480i with standard VMMaker settings I have 59,981 and 15,625 kHz. Maybe your parameters are a bit too high.

This might be also problem with cvs287.

Sorry for the late reply. But I went ahead and resinstall my OS (WINDOWS 7 X64) along with CRT_EMUDRIVER and still ended up with the same result of distortion of the top portion of the screen as seen in the image. This time around, I did not even bother mucking with VMMAKER post install. I just changed the resolution via windows to 640x480 @30 as per the crt_EMUDRIVER instruction.

Prior to reinstallation, I was playing with the resolutions in ArcadeOSD and some of the lower resolutions (the ones in the 200s x 200x) did not have the screen distortion issue. Could it still be the CVS287? Maybe my TV (KV-27FS120) doesn't play well with CRT_EMUDRIVER? But it seems this particular model is a favorite amongst the community. I'm at a total lost as I sit here with a fresh reinstall of the OS.....

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Much thanks guys/gals!

Could you post a picture of your vga-scart schematic? Whatever is mixing the sync might need some adjustment. Perhaps there may be an adjustment pot for sync inside the cvs287? I know there's color adjustment pots in there.

When I built a homemade rgb to component box for consoles I had similar issues - particularly when the console generated composite video for sync instead of using pure composite sync. Adding a simple LM1881 sync cleaner circuit helped in my case - maybe that's worth a try? A commercial version of this is the sync strike http://arcadeforge.net/Scaler-and-Strike-Devices/Sync-Strike::15.html

The 200p modes probably only hid the problem because of their huge borders. I'm with burn_654 that it looks like a sync issue.
