Hello everyone can someone please help me im having people come over to play on Sunday. I have been working on this for 3 days solid. I must be getting old. I typed up this huge post and lost it all trying to attach my mame.ini file omg. so now this is my second time typing this and it will be shorter and to the point.

Windows 7 arcade cabinet 27" arcade monitor. ATI 4870 card. cRT emudrivers windows 7 latest version

machine boots in proper resolution . Hyperspin runs as well. arcadeosd runs and says catalyst installed. vmmaker runs and save to registry (didn't use to save to reigistry used to error out and not save to registry)

Mame spits out when trying to run any game
Switchres: -resolution value not available: 320x240@60

  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
GM in W7 needs to be run with administrative rights, this might be causing problems?

all programs have been right click run with "run as administrator" and also had properties set to run as administrator. Plus I am logged in as machine administrator. Any other ideas?

You appear to be forcing the game to run at 320x240, and you're using super resolutions. Try starting the game with -resolution 2560x0 and -cleanstretch 2.

Edit: noticed it's already set in mame.ini. Are you using a frontend that might be overriding the value?

thank you for this information. I am running mame directly from an elevated command prompt. I have those two setting in my mame.ini file. I don't know what is happening. sounds like you are on the right track. me personally I have no idea what is going on. I have hyperspin installed and running but bypassing it and just working on windows 7 and mame.

I have tried running mame goldnaxe -resolution 2560x0 -cleanstretch 2
as requested and get the exact same error.

You must have some old ini files inside the ini folder. Delete all.
Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

WoW! 3 days! 3 days I was messing with this. I used to work so that's why I knew it had to work. I didn't even know about the ini's in the ini folder!
I deleted the entire INI folder and bam. all games I tested work ....except narc(the screen rolls vertically).

Calamity your the best! I appreciate your ATOM-15 and drivers and support to this community. I refuse to go LCD. I tried it once and it was terrible. CRT brings back all my memories of being 16 and at the arcade everyday after school. thanks to you I just beat golden axe on one quarter again! ha!
