Attract Mode oddity, seeking help
« on: June 24, 2015, 09:15:52 pm »
I just posted over on the A-M forums, but it looks like I might get more eyes on the issue over here.  Everything is working great except for one oddity.  My NES ROMlist has something weird happening.  For some reason the title for 3-D Worldrunner will not display correctly.  Here's the snip from my romlist file.

Code: [Select]
#Name;Title;Emulator;CloneOf;Year;Manufacturer;Category;Players;Rotation;Control;Status;DisplayCount;DisplayType;AltRomname;AltTitle;Extra
10-Yard Fight (U) [!];10-Yard Fight;Fceux;;1985;Taito;Sports;2;;;;;;;;
1942 (JU) [!];1942;Fceux;;1986;Capcom;Shooter;2;;;;;;;;
1943 - The Battle of Midway (U) [!];1943: The Battle of Midway;Fceux;;1987;Capcom;Shooter;2;;;;;;;;
3-D Worldrunner(U) [!];3-D Worldrunner(U) [!];Fceux;;;;;;;;;;;;;
720 (U) [!];720 (U) [!];Fceux;;;;;;;;;;;;;
8 Eyes (U) [!];8 Eyes;Fceux;;1990;Taxan;Adventure;2;;;;;;;;
Abadox - The Deadly Inner War (U) [!];Abadox: The Deadly Inner War;Fceux;;1989;Natsume;Shooter;1;;;;;;;;
Addams Family, The (U) [!];The Addams Family;Fceux;;1992;Ocean;Adventure;1;;;;;;;Addams Family;

I've tried messing with the file and nothing really works.  Anybody see anything out of the ordinary?

Here's a screen grab showing what I'm getting from the above ROMlist file.

Well, got it figured out.  There is not a space between the word in the title and the (u).  Apparently that was important.  Added the space and all is golden.  Weird.

Thanks for posting the fix.  I stared at this for a bit last night and couldn't see anything wrong.

I always post the fix.  :)  Drives me nuts when I am looking for a fix and find a thread that describes my problem exactly and ends with, "NM, fixed it." with no explanation.

New question.  I'm loving A-M, the flexibility of the layouts is amazing and cross platform is gravy.  The current problem I'm bumping into is it seems to hate on-board graphics.  It works smooth as glass on my test machine, even on my Raspberry Pi.  But it seems to hate the three other windows machines I've tried it on and it seems to be because they are using the on-board video.  One of em is a stripped laptop, so I couldn't plug a video card into it even if I wanted to!  I am getting skipping/stuttering in the rendering.  For example, using the default Attract-Man layout, our hero will skip forward 5 or 6 dots every frame.  The emulators are all working fine, just AM is having issues.

Anybody else run into this and how did you fix and/or work around it?
