MameMain.txt question
« on: June 24, 2015, 07:28:22 am »
This might be a stupid question... but here it goes.

I have my list of favourite games... I know that I need to put them into MameMain.txt to ensure that VMMaker prefers the resoultions.

Looking at the example, it doesnt look to hard, however I cant figure out what the second text is:

EG:

Code: [Select]
snowbros, "Snow Bros"
bublbobl, "Bubble Bobble"
ddragon, "Double Dragon"
outfxies, "Namco NB-1"
shangkid, "Namco NA-1"
outrun, "Out Run"
shinobi, "Sega System 16A"

At first glance, the first value is the rom name...
The second value is !?

It kind of looks like the name of the game... but it is not!?
Option1) Searching within listinfo.dat does NOT show the values
Option2) mame.exe outr
D:\Arcade\Hyperspin\Emulators\MAME>mame.exe outru
Unknown system 'outru'

"outru" approximately matches the following
supported machines (best match first):
outrun            Out Run (sitdown/upright, Rev B)

Can anyone explain to me how to find the correct values for the second part of each line?

You can put whatever as the second value, it's not used internally. You usually put the game or system name so you can remember what it is.
Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.
