25" WG monitor, reecapped, now no B+ voltage?
« on: May 19, 2015, 08:56:51 am »
Ugh.

THese WG monitors are going to be the death of me.

I've recapped many monitors without issue, but as soon as I get one of these WG monitors, I have the worst time.

This monitor was just recapped by me last night. I also replaced the flyback due to a faint grayish picture.

I powered the monitor back up, and the game plays blind now.

No neck glow, no B+ voltage at power up or shut down.

I checked 5 times the each cap was the correct value and installed with the correct polarity.

I also put the old flyback back in, just in case it was a bad new flyback.

The fuse checks OK (out of circuit) and I get 110VAC at the line-in.

Ideas?

And why am I having som uch trouble with them? Are they known for needing adjustments or something after a capkit is done?

solder tracks on wells chassis can be delicate, double check for any that may have broken
if you got all the caps values correct(or even semi near) and the polarities are correct then all it could be is a break in the circuit

what chassis model are you talking about?

I can't think of the exact model off the top of my head, but its the most common one, with the 3 color transistors on the neck tube.

Its a 25" from an Invasion cabinet.

I'm at work right now, no info in front of me at the moment.

Thanks for the help!
