Termites
« on: May 06, 2015, 01:54:18 am »
Ayep..... :|

So we do the usual and do a bidding process and there's three camps of thought with these termite guys.

Group A (the cheapest) wants to pull the outside wall off, spray, then reattach. The cost savings comes in if we decide to remove the panel ourselves. It's a window wall and that bastard particle board that's popular in this damn city so it's going to take more time and work than I want to put into it. if I have them do it, their pricing is on par with Group B.

Group B wants to drill dime size holes and use a scope to locate the pests. Once they spot them, then they soak the wood in sort of orange oil stuff. They'll fill in the hole and paint the walls. Then they go into the attic and spray the entire space with some other pesticide. Their cost is about the middle of the road.

Group C wants to tent the house and gas. And all the ---That which is odiferous and causeth plants to grow--- that goes along with it. They're the most expensive. I'm not super keen on this choice.

Group D is a lone wolf and wants to "cook" the house. Yeah, that ain't happening.

Does anyone have experience in dealing with termites? Group B seems to be the best chance at ruining those termites lives. Those guys seem hell bent on making my life hell with the tenting though. Is that better against termites? Interestingly, none of the pest control guys offer more than one technique. In other words, if they do one thing, they don't do any other technique. Seems bizarre. ???

Option B is the one of choice around here--they also inject a poision into the ground all the way around to prevent them from building shelter tubes up the walls.  Seems to work as they have been doing the same procedure for a decade at least..

I have never had termites myself so can't speak from personal experience...
its better to not post and be thought a fool, then to whip out your keyboard and remove all doubt...

I've heard option b is popular too. I'd probably try that.
