As the subject says,

I am trying to get Soft-15KHz to work on my computer to arcade, but so far It hasn't worked. :banghead:

I've installed Soft-15KHz to my Windows 7 system, I have the most up to date drivers for my GeForce 6200(ForceWare v 137.83), and I also set my resolution to 640x480 with QRes.

I turned off my CPU, plugged in the VGA to my JPAC, to my Jamma Harness, and I get video on my CRT.  The problem is that it's a screen and a half.

I don't get any lights lit up on my JPAC, so I assume it's not sending the 15KHz signal correctly.

Is this a known issue?  Any help would be lovely.

I had similiar problem using UMSA. Problem was simple - my TV accepted somehow 640x480@60p by showing picture twice side by side. Try set other resolution :)

I totally forgot - some NVidia cards does not display interlaced resolutions correctly. Check some low progressive resolutions like 384x240.

Thanks for your response.

Just so I don't misunderstand you, I am using an arcade monitor.  Would your TV, have the same issue, as me having a monitor?

Also, do you remember what resolution you used to fix it?

If I use a lower resolution like 384x240 will that end up causing any issues with any of the roms?

Thanks!

I dont know QRes but it's probably choosing 640x480@60p instead 640x480@60i. You could try ArcadeOSD, I don't know if it wil work with cards others than ATI but you could try. It's nice application supplied with ATI Calamity drivers. It allow test all resolutions on the fly.

How would I change the resolution to 640x480i instead of p?

1. MAME can switch resolution on the fly (and you should use that).

2. none of the classic games was designed to be run in 640x480 either.
I do all that stuff even without a Joystick ;)

I think I'm fundamentally misunderstanding what the issue is.

I run soft 15KHz, I install 15KHz.  Change my QRes to 640x480.

I set up HyperSpin and QRes to startup when my computer does.

I turn off my computer.

I plug in my vga from my CPU to my J-PAC and turn on my arcade CRT.

I get the two images when HyperSpin loads.

yes, but what resolution is hyperspin running in?
not all cards can do interlaced resolutions (i.e. 640x480)

Hyperspin was running the same resolution of 640 x 480

Hm... Try some other resolution on windows desktop (using quickres), if they also show up split, something is wrong - if they show up normal, your card does not support interlaced resolutions

Exactly. Like I wrote before - some nvidia cards does not displays correctly interlaced resolutions, I even had one of such cards.

Other problem might be too new driver.

I'm getting the same thing.  I am going to try to get rid of windows 7 and install XP and try it.

That's what I'm thinking, so I'm going to go back to xp and try to find an original driver.
