Impact/modeler support in frontends
« on: February 27, 2002, 06:47:35 pm »

Just wondering if there are any FE's besides Raging Dragon that will launch these EMU's.  I'd use Raging Dragon, except that it doesn't support merged clones (I think...) and I've never been able to get it to see my MAME roms (because I'm using merged sets?).

Right now I use Emuwizard which is pretty awesome, becuase it reminds me a lot of ArcadeOS (my favorite FE) and it's simplicity.  Nice big scroll list with snaps.

Thanks,

DMA

Did you perhaps forget to press the "5" key to refresh the list?
;)

and a "\" at the end of each path helps too

It'll see your merged romsets but only display the parent inside that set, since it dosen't do crc checks.  none of hte other fe authors like impact/modeler enough to add support for them apparently  :'(

Guess your stuck with me

Howard,

I did get the "\" at the end of the paths, however, I was trying "F5" to refresh the list--I'll do the "5" and give it a shot.  Also, maybe you know this...can Clrmame split merged sets?  I'm sure doing a full collection of all the roms would take a while, but that way I could run clones (specifically 2 player versions of X-men/TMNT and such...).

Thanks for your help,

DMA

Howard,

Using "5" worked!  I like the FE so far, I think I may be "stuck" with you, but now I'm seeing that as a good thing.

Thanks for your help again,

Actually, I looked through the skins last night and saw a few that I really liked and were arranged with a single scrolling list--which is what I was looking for.

Thanks,

DMA

Ah I love it when a plan comes together!  :D

I decided not to use the f5 key to eliminate the need for some extra keys on your setup (since 5 is coin 1).  The keys are completely re-definable though.

romcenter does a really good job of splitting up sets......
add all your rom folders to it (be sure to update your dats first of course)

and in the options for that emu check the split box and uncheck the merged box.... then go back to your menu and "fix all" and it will automatically split them all up for you.
