On the one hand, I'm excited to see the original cast in a new Star Wars movie.

On the other hand, it's going to take something really special to cleanse the bad taste that the Star Wars prequels left.

Look at it this way, can it be damaged any more than it already has been?

I'm cautiously optimistic.

Ok I admit, as much of a fan as I am, I had to Wookieepedia that one.... Doesn't look remotely Mandalorian to me, but what do i know? Im still pumped.

Now that I watch it again it has a Battlestar Galactica vibe, its growing on me.

Hitler appears to have a few reservations about the trailer, and I always respect his opinions.

Teaser Trailers are irrelevant.

It's JJ Abrams.  He hasn't made a good film in his life.  He ruined Star Trek.  Also "Hitler" is 100% correct with all the inconsistencies.  At best this film is going to "not suck" and at worst it'll make you miss the prequels.

I will be HUGELY dissappointed if the plot rumor below is true

Luke has become so powerful that he has exiled himself for 30 years because he's AFRAID that he will become a danger to the republic.  This is so retarded an so counter intuitive to what Luke already must KNOW about the dark side, fear leads to it after all.

Howard is spot on about Star Trek being ruined, with the utter disregard for anything remotely resembling science and the complete break from cannon on characters.

Lol yeah I got a kick out of that as well.  Han is there shaking from old age, and chewie looks...exactly the same.  How hard would it have been to put some gray streaks in his hair?

Unfortuantely, I think it's true.  Remember Lucas is still a script consultant. ;)

You've got to understand that I'm "that guy" that notices all the plot holes even if they are tiny.  I think I've mentioned the quantum leap story before.

I knew Star Trek wasn't going to be good from the trailers.  How?  Well while everyone else was going OOOO and AHHH over the revel of the ship being welded together in the desert I was having a rage attack about the ship being welded together in the desert.

JJ claimed to be a Star Trek fan... and yet... this is Star Trek 101.  Roddenberry came up with the transporter idea because after the Enterprise model design was finalized, they couldn't figure out how to land the thing as anyone with a Jr. High school level mastery of physics would understand that the ship would collapse under it's own weight due to those spindly nacelle struts and that giant saucer section bolted on top of the spindly engineering section.  In the films and on TNG this idea was later expanded upon as they showed the ships being repaired and built from scratch in space stations.

If you can't get that one basic thing right, then chances are you can't get the more important bits right.

This trailer reminds me of that.  He's trying real hard, you can tell, but these minor inconsistences are already present in such a short trailer.

Things like Luke having a hand that's obviously an inferior version of his original hand just to make it look cool, the fact that not only are there still storm troopers, but they have shiny new suits even though they LOST the war, the ball R2d2 that isn't cg, but looks so incredibly fake due to the painted on texture that he might as well be, ect.... it just worries me and this is coming from a guy that honestly doesn't have that much attachment to the franchise anymore.

And don't get me wrong, this isn't one of those deals where I'm going to argue over it or anything because I'm not that interested in it.  (my doctor wouldn't let me anyway)  I just can't believe that for some fans all you have to do is show a clip of Han solo and Chewie and they get excited.  Remember Kingdom of the Crystal Skull's Trailer?

I liked the Startrek reboots.  Most of the actors were great... with excellent performances.   The stories were good too.
Spock seemed a little more human than he ought to be... with the romance feeling too unrealistic.  I think thats more to do with the fact that we didnt get any development on their connection... as well as possibly a lacking of chemistry.

I wasnt hot on  checkov.  He was the only poor cast, imo.  I also wasnt thrilled at the similar... but inverted ending in the last film. It worked good... but it became a bit too predictable, if you have seem the orig. Film.

Still,  I enjoy re watching the new ST movies far more than STTNG films... and I loved the ng  tv series.

As for Starwars... the digital butchery to the originals ticked me off the most.. in fact, im still Heated over it... and refuse to purchase the dvds, blurays, nor digitalcopies of them.. until the originals are let loose.  (Hopefully in stereo 3d)

The Prequel. . I only paid to see the one... and nearly walked out on it.   I vowed not to pay to see the others.. and only saw the others by chance on hbo... to which i also regret. Ill skip the 2hr rants. They simply sucked on every level possible.

The 1st preview I saw of this sequel. .. started off on a bad note.  The cross shaped lightsabers were horrible... and not even close to being workably believable.  The enemy beam would slice the side jet mechanisms off with ease.   Had they made the jets smaller... with them coming off the main shaft (flush.. without those 3inch T-shaped bars)  it may have made some sense.   Heck... the crosses were so big... the weilder would have easy sliced himself to death while trying to use it.

But.. I might give this one a chance... due to the decent job on Trek..  and only if its in 3d.

Being that they chose to realease Furious 7 in 2d in USA (3d shownin other countries). .. they lost my cash on that as well.

It's JJ Abrams.  He hasn't made a good film in his life.  He ruined Star Trek.

I have to say, I totally disagree. I was very impressed with what he did with the Star Trek reboots. He succeeded in breathing new life into a franchise that was looking even more tired than Star Wars. I even found the romance between Spock and Uhura pretty convincing. Yes, I know it sounds like a crazy idea on paper, given that there was no hint of a romance between them in any of the previous films and series. But thanks to the excellent acting and good script, I think it worked.

JJ Abrams involvment is the one thing that leads me to hope that this film might at least be watchable, and who knows, may actually be good.

My main concern is actually the involvment of Harrison Ford.  If he plays a small cameo role as Nimoy did in the Star Trek reboots then that should be fine. But if he is going to play a more central role (which sounds likely from what I've been reading) then I have concerns about whether he can pull it off given his age.

Don't get me wrong, he was by far the best thing about the first three Star Wars films, and a very big part of me wants to see him back. But he's at least 10 years too old to be playing a leading role in an action film. IMHO, he already looked too old in the 4th Indiana Jones film and that was 7 years ago.

I really hope I'm wrong. But I guess time will tell.

Plus he broke his ankle the first day of filming.  The movie was supposed to revolve around him.  Oops.

And crashed an antique plane recently.

And had Alzheimer's rumors while filming Cowboys vs aliens.
