Once you polish the hell out of it, and I mean really go to town with a high gloss, it'll look like you stole it out of Fort Knox. Can't wait to see non-blurry pictures of it when that happens. :lol

;D. My buddy is the airbrush artist/painter for Kiddie Rides, USA. They are the only company in the US that currently manufactures and restores old coin up rides for kids.  We used to airbrush together at another company back in the day....and I didn't have access to an automotive booth for this project.  So fortunately he let me push aside his lions, tigers, and bears so I can paint this golden calf. :). He's a seriously talented dude!

I actually talked to him about that today. He's a lot like me in that we both suck at technology....but he needs to! He does have a website for his personal work....it's intense.  He makes a lot of haunted house props. He's an incredible sculpture.  If anybody wants to check out his work....www.worpedstudios.com.

Some more dark blurry pics. I like working at night lately. Haha.  Got the black painted and the front polished.  Still need to finish wet sanding and polish the sides.  I'm going, 1000,1500,2000, then finishing with 3000. Then hitting it with a pad and polishing compound.  I couldn't wait and through on the coin door, t molding and insert rupees sticker for fun.   :)

This color is weird.  It's a lot darker then I would have liked during the day....but then looks great at night under the light.  The metallic flake is only noticeable from certain angles....which is cool I guess because it's kinda hidden.  I'll post contrasting pics in better light later.

Wow ! That paint job is amazing !

However ... I really hate to say this, but that sticker is too much. When I looked at the first two pics, I was like 'that paint job looks great, the speaker grill is really cool'. Then I looked at the next pics and my eye immediately was drawn to that prominent, plain, black sticker. IMHO it just doesn't fit there. I take a look at the front of the cab, I see all that shininess, the paint, the polished parts of the coin door, the speaker grill. Then I see that sticker. And can't look away.

Now this may be exaggerated because I'm just looking at a part of the cab and not the whole, but I think the sticker still would be noticable.

If this was my cab, I would go without the sticker, as it draws attention away from parts that look much better.

I like the sticker. It breaks a bit the massive gold ingot look and helps to convey the actual dimensions of the cab. It would be fine anyway.

Such a tremendous effort all around.

Once the CP is on there, the sticker will not be so prominent and will blend into the theme just fine.

I disagree, it adds some legitimacy to the cabinet as being a proper Nintendo and gives it a more pro look.  Those who know Nintendo cabs would immediately recognize this sticker.

I neither know Nintendo cabs, nor do I particularly care about them. To me, using this sticker looks like slapping a cheap sticker onto a beautiful paint job on a show car. But that's just my opinion  :dunno

Then you are missing the entire point of this project.

Anyway, still an amazing job so far Wyo. That paint job turned out ace and I'm digging all the little touches you're adding to authenticate this cabinet. Keep doing you man, and let the ignoramuses kick rocks!  :)

I'm away from computer working on LOZ all day and It see I missed quite the controversy. Haha.  :dizzy:

All good. :)  It was actually a BYOAC member who came up with the "Insert Rupee" concept....and ai think its awesome.  Like I said before, My goal with this cab is to make it fit in with a line up of other Nintendo cabs and how they would have been back in the day.....so I think I'll stick with the sticker.  I totally get it tho, and  I can see the point of why some might think it is distracting.  This stuff is so subjective.

So okay.  I know I've changed my mind a million time on this cabinet over the course of a year.  Ive had 2 PC 10 boards, a computer, an NES! A raspberry pie....Lol.  :banghead:

Well, the main things I wanted when I started this project was a classic look, it plays NES games only, has a CRT and, coins up.  Well, at this point I'm really wanting to finish this project so I gotta give up something.  I've got so much money tied up in the electronics with the PC 10, adapters, gamelink, powerpaks, harnesses...etc, etc...and I still need to source a CRT and ISO transformer....I started thinking, man, I've really over complicated this....and I think a lot of you guys even said that pages ago.  Sooooooo....in the end I decided to simplify. A LOT.  Atleast for now.  I know this may not be popular.....but I'm just going to use my NES to power this build.

Last year my neighbor gave me a 20" CRT TV for free.  I'm still a CRT virgin at this point, sans one supervised cap kit I did.  So in the middle of the night last night, I said, "F it, I'm going in" and I Started to decase the CRT TV.  And I did.....and I'm alive! Haha.  It actually wasn't that bad!  I didn't have the tool to discharge it....but it had been in my neighbors garage for a long time off....and I'm never turned it on...so I figured I was safe.  Still tho, I probably should have checked anyways.

So today I mounted the CRT and built a frame for the TV.  I also hooked up the NES a to test it.  There is a slight off center issue....not sure how to adjust it, I'll have to ask for help locally with my expert friends.

I have a question. See the two speakers dangling from the CRT.....what would be the best solution for my speaker panel? I was planning on using a Nintendo style single 6" speaker.   Should I just use one of those speaker lines and connect it to that? Or will I lose sound because there are supposed to be two channels? Or should I use an amp somehow? I have a lapai 2020 amp on order for this build.  Or should I just put both stock TV speakers over the speaker grill?

My first TV rodeo....so opinions and knowledge welcome!

Couldnt you just wire both speaker leads to one 6in speaker and turn it mono? seeing that Nintendo cabs are mono sound?

I don't know. Is it that simple? I'm not sure at all.  Im happy with the sound the TV puts out....still pretty loud. I unhooked one speaker and it was still plenty loud....but I'm not sure what would happen if I hooked up a six inch to just one channel. Haven't tested it yet because I wanted opinions.

The nes puts out mono sound from the yellow and white or red and white connections on the side you should be able to pull from that.

So then I could probably just put an amp inline with the NES a output to the speaker then?

Yeah I think NES Audio Connection --> AMP --> 6in Speaker should work
