Screen Ripping
« on: December 25, 2003, 08:27:54 pm »
At least I think that's what it's called...  happens alot on mame side-scrollers, like a scrolling diagonal line that goes up the screen when the screen is scrolling

Is there a way to fix this?
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

That's the VHold I believe it's called.   Something to do with the Vertical refresh rate.  I think there is an option in mame to fix this, however it requires a performance hit.  And I think there is a build of Mame to take care of this sort of problem too.  Called VMame or something I think... I'm not sure.

If I understand correctly I think this is usually termed 'tearing' - try enabling triple buffering and/or vsync to fix :)
