Static demo for mame?
« on: March 10, 2015, 10:54:33 pm »
So when I am not using my Mame machine is there any software or settings I can use that will turn the machine into sort of a demo unit?  I kind of just want the ambiance of an arcade machine when I am not using it.  Is there any software or ways to get it to go through games/cut scenes/maybe art on its own?
Thanks.

My mame is using a core 2 duo 3.3, gtx 560ti, 4gb ram, windows 7 64-bit.

Are you using any Front End software?

I use Hyper Spin and it has an attract mode which goes through and shows clips of random games. I am sure several other Front Ends have this same feature.

Attractmode front end has a screen saver which will randomly display preview videos.

Every front-end I've played with has an attract mode or a "screen saver" feature.

This. I use maximus arcade.

But to hijack this thread, I have mine set to pick random mame games, but a lot of the games get stuck on the type ok or move joystick left then right screen.
How do you get rid of that?

Ehh, the daunting task of recompiling mame. I just did this last week, got rid of the "Nag Screens". Do some searches for No Nag screen or recompile mame and you will find what you need. And Good Luck!!

Sorry guys, I am just finishing off the cabinet portion of my machine and getting everything together, I guess maybe what I want to know then is what is the BEST "attract mode".  Wasn't sure if maybe there were some with better transations and that are just slicker then others, perhaps ones that give you some settings of how long to display things or what you want on screen instead of just basic.   As of right now I am probably going to go with Hyperspin as a front end.

Thanks for the help.

Maximus arcade has the option to choose what to display, how long to display it for, and how long of no interaction before it is displayed.
You can set it to your mame games and have it randomly pick titles. it will launch the game for a set amount of time and then switch to another.
Pretty basic.

Then why did you bother asking? :dunno

Have fun with hypercrap. It frustrated me so much. Any application that needs written and video tutorials to just to set up, is crap.

Are you stupid? do you not know what the words "as of right now" mean?   Indicating that unless further information I am seeking is provided my initial plan was to choose that software?

What a loser you are.  Also, I haven't even used hyperspin yet, but just because you are to stupid to set it up doesn't make it bad software.

P.s.- Just sent a message to mods letting them know you are trolling and harassing threads on here.

P.P.s-  Just went through your post history.  You are a dev for attractmode and pretty much go thread to thread trashing the competition and promoting the software in any way you can which is soliciting sales.  That is squarely against the terms you signed onto when you opened an account here and I am going to do everything I possibly can to get you banned at this point.

Wow 4 posts and you are already threatening to get someone banned I think you need to relax a bit.

I am not a dev for attractmode. There are other options recommended in this post, that I would recommend too. I only mentioned attractmode because I was positive it had the feature you wanted. I have been recommending some newer front ends that are being actively developed such as attractmode, retrofe and bigblue. Maximus Arcade was mentioned and is a very good front end as well. Last I knew, it wasn't being actively developed and is not open source. Mala is in the same boat. Sorry for showing my support for new arcade development.

I am not stupid. I'm pretty sure anyone that has tried hyperspin can agree that it is extremely overwhelming to set up.

If someone actually does start trolling or harassing, the link to report it to the mods is in the lower right corner of the offending post.   ;D

Yeah we better look out in case anyone starts trolling or breaking the rules.
