Hi guys.
I'm in process of updating my old Windows 98 + AdvancedMame setup. It's composed by a AMD Athlon 1660+ CPU, with ATI 3D Rage PRO AGP and Hantarex MTC 9110. The whole setup is running Windows 98 in DOS mode with AdvancedMame and I would like to update it to some Linux based distribution.

The thing is that I've booted GroovyArcade, selected my monitor type and then tried to run the frontend. I get a Xorg error: No screens found. If I change the driver in /etc/X11/xorg.conf to vesa, Xorg starts but (obvisously) it doesn't work properly.

I'm looking for some who can confirms if GroovyArcade should work in my hardware, and what to do to make it work. Should I install it to HD instead of running from LiveCD mode?

Thanks in advance,
Sergio

Hi soukron,

The Rage is too old I'm afraid, the open source driver won't support it. You should look for a supported AGP card like the 9250, provided your AGP slot is compatible.
Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

Thank you for your information. That's something new to consider.
