I suspect that we know already that you have either a board tester, or a Q-Bert board.
Now we know you have the other?

Either one seems nice to have so congrats?

And I was glad it wasn't a picture of herpes.

Of what, Jennifer? The tester or the board? I can shoot both for you.

The tester is what I was hoping, I wasn't aware there was such a thing (other than a test jig)... And hooked up the board might be fun too. ;) THX.

Here's the thread for my test rig:

Here's the Arcadeshop page for the Jrok board:

Jrok is actually in Phoenix today, so I got to pick up the board and shake the hand of the man himself.

OMG, That thing is SWEET!!!... I was thinking that was something Jenn could get too, But that looks like a complex build. That board will take some research (for game authenticity) before I"ll give it the thumbs up. However the price seems reasonable. and a fun selection.

What's great about Jrok boards is that they are executing the actual code instead of running emulation. So the 8088 runs the game code like the original boards do, no MAME involved.

Nice test rig. I'd read Nes's build thread and was always a bit disappointed that so much stuff was on the outside of the case, it kind of defeats the purpose of being in a case to me if you can't put it in a trunk of a car or whatever and not worry about something breaking off the outside. Good adaptation on yours.

That's really cool that you got to meet him. What do you think of the board so far?

Mine is sitting in the mailbox but I haven't been able to pick it up yet.

I've met James before. The guy is brilliant.

I love having the ability to run the games in hardware with no emulation. Sure, I could do the same with a PC, but this is straight JAMMA,  plug and play. I plan to put together a Caberet that will either be Multi-Qbert,  Krull, or Reactor.

Yeah it is fun to be able to run the games with no emulation and a simple Jamma connection.  My board is going in my Q*Bert restore since I don't have any of the original electronics.

You have a Q*Bert cab? Cool. I don't, but I've always wanted one. I can either do a scratch build, or I can do a Cabaret. I just wanted to make sure I had one of Jrok's boards, having missed out on some of the other ones.

I've got a Q*Bert that was converted to a 1942 that I'm converting back.

Now that I have the Jrok board I can finish it.  The guts for Q*bert are crazy expensive.  I got as far as buying a harness and decided to wait on the Jrok.

A Q*bert cabaret would be sweet.  Are you going to use LT's plans if you go that route?

Yeah, since there was never an actual Q*Bert cabaret and his plans are perfect for a single player game. Does your have a knocker?

It will have a knocker.  I picked one up off KLOV a few weeks ago.  It is really, really cool that JROK worked that support into his board.  That was what finally convinced me to go that route over all original.
