29"-32" lcd/led monitor
« on: February 23, 2015, 10:50:19 am »
hello I know this has been discussed to death but im building a 31" UA II wide arcade cab and want a 29-32" lcd monitor only-no CRT for weight and safety reasons-period.  first who even carries these this size and do I need to look at computer monitors or can I buy a lcd or led tv as long as it can connect to my gtx760 video card which has dvi and hdmi connections.  real arcade feel for picture does not interest me as I have systems like ps1 and 2 that I want for higher resolutions but don't know if this is possible to find yet from my searches.  seems like 25-26 is the biggest I keep coming across, thanks

You can get a Tv just remember a tv will generally have higher input lag than a monitor. you can check out displaylag.com they have a data base of input lag and links for amazon. its how i found my 27" 10ms input lag monitor for 200. i know you can find up to a 40" tv for 200.

If you have an nvidia card that supports gsync and you are willing to spend the money to get a gsync compatible monitor, then I'd suggest you get one. You'll pay a bit of a premium, but they really are idea for mame as many games run a different refresh rates.

the input lag i was speaking of comes only from the tv/monitor. everything does count in the total lag like your keyboard and pc. but i havnt heard of those parts really makign a big impact. there is a member here who know more about input lag who might chime in on this convo. for tvs look for one that has the lowest you can get for the money you want to spend. link i had earlier might be incorrect here is right one http://www.displaylag.com/display-database/

thanks that's very helpful.  from reading this afternoon the general consensus I came across is TV's aren't out yet and monitors are 24-29 with g sync and coming down with the release of freesync, so I can definitely wait for competition.  seems a lot are getting into 4k and down to 1ms lag.  I don't need 4k just 1080p but would like the 144 refresh and 1ms lag .  I will just make the cabinet big enough for a 32" but may end up just putting 29" in.
