Help with loading particular roms??
« on: January 28, 2015, 06:06:56 pm »
Ive recently finally cleaned up my main rom folder. Its a .149 full rom set, bios and chds included. Anyways, recently ive been doing a lot of learning with clrmamepro and rom naming/mame versions. Im finding some games dont work, and i suspect it could be naming problems but thus far, the following two are the ones i researched and can no longer play. These 2 games ALWAYS worked for me in the past, even using mame 156 with my 149 romset. Now all of a sudden they wont work. Marvel vs capcom and super puzzle fighter turbo 2. I have the main parent roms in my folder, mvsc.zip being marvel vs capcom. Yet they wont load in mame, or anything. I get a missing rom or chd error.  I redownloaded the rom and replaced it incase it somehow became corrupted. I am sure i have the correct parent rom i need. Any suggestions??

thank you sir, so so much. Its these little problems that are the mot tedious. Qsound has always transferred over when ive filtered my mame lists in the past. I never knew of this file. I assume its a capcom sound bank type of file? Since bothe games affected were capcom. Besides bios files, are there any other files like this off of your head that i should grab? Or check for filtering?

It's a dump of internal program from QSound chip. Besides CPS2, CPS3 also some zn.c games (probably only capcom) use this dump.

Qsound did not transfer over before, it just didnt exist before. Now its a needed ROM kinda like a BIOS file. Qsound was used on CP Dash, CPS2, CPS3, and both the ZN1 and ZN2 (a non Capcom ZN1 example is Battle Arena Toshinden 2, distributed by Capcom but published by Takara)
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

People also usually have issues with midssio.zip
It's a midway sound board.  It was separated from the game roms somewhere in the late 140's IIRC (before that it was duplicated in all the game roms).

Rather than copying what I want, I start with a full romset and use romlister to remove what I don't (mechanical, gambling, fruit machine, adult, etc).

For the CHDs, I do just copy over the ones that I want.
