Sony PVM compatibility questions.

Hi guys. I am looking to purchase a Sony PVM for a great price. I have the option between a PVM 2030 & a 2530 (20" and 25")

I am almost done completing my mini emu box - a pc built inside an NES console with fully functioning controller ports.

The motherboard is an intel DH61AG with VGA and HDMI outputs. I currently run it on an LCD, but would love to play it on a CRT for authenticity sake.

I have read a lot about VGA to BNC and all that stuff, but apparently need a specific compatible graphics card to run Soft15khz if I am correct.

My question for you all is; Will my PC, with onboard intel graphics (i3) be able to in any way, output to the Sony PVM? (I have no way of using discreet graphics because of space constraints.)

If the answer is 'no', what about a consumer grade Sony Trinitron CRT?

hi, more information would be helpful:

- what operating system are you planning to run
- what emulators are you planning to run
- do you require the image you will see on the screen to be in the native resolution for each game/system, or are you happy for every game/system to be ran at one shared resolution (example: everything will be displayed at 640x480 resolution)

I own a 20" Sony PVM. I don't think you'll be able to display anything from your computer on it because the Sony PVM only accepts a PAL or NTSC signal in the 15khz range. The output from your PC will be a 640x480 progressive signal. You need to interlace it somehow.

I'm not a monitor expert, so I'm not sure how to do that, but you'd probably need to run it through some type of converter box that interlaces the signal for it to display on the Sony PVM.

(For reference: I ran groovymame using CRT_emudriver with a radeon HD4350 on my Sony PVM).

I ended up getting a Trinitron. I am assuming I still need some sort of special video card?
