Stuzza: Modified zsnes - key mapping?
« on: December 19, 2003, 12:28:00 am »
stuzza,
have downloaded your modded version of the zsnes emulator. Problem is - (my cabinet: JAMMA, 3 button p/player, using JPAC, ArcadeVga, XP, MAMEWAH) the controls don't seem to work? The joystick works ok - but none of the 3 buttons on player 1 are working? Is there more mapping that I need to do? If I've missed something in the docs - I apologise now.
I can use ENTER by holding down P1Start and tapping joy1 to the left. These are standard MAME settings using a JPAC. And the ESC works by holding P1start and pressing P2start (as normal)

Any adivce?
Thanks

stuzza

Simply load up Zsnesw and then go to Config #1 and change the keys to whatever you need.  Off hand, I don't think that all the mame keys were set already, just the Escape key, so you'll probably have to set the appropriate keys to what you need.

Im using that same build, the modified zsnes. Had no probs mapping keys using the config menus.

I'm using advancemenu as the front end, and my strange problem is that whenever I [esc] out a game, I get a dialog box popped up that says:
advance error
error process exited with status 4374524

Is there something in this build that would cause the exit code, or is it all in advance? This is on win 98

it's only a minor inconvenience as Ive got a button mapped for [enter] and can just OK the rror and back to the frontend

stuzza.. forgive my absolute stupidity.. but how do you get Config #1 menu in zsnes? I can get the GUI to show the MISC OPTIONS menu - but not the menu to map the keys??

I think I've been looking at the screen for too long... and I did check the readme.txt for zsnes but couldn't find how to get the config going via the GUI.

Thanks, and forgive my ignorance
Alex

I've never had any problems mapping keys in the modified Zsnesw.  You just load up the gui Go to Config->Input1 and change your keys.  Easy as that.

As for the program crashing, I've never seen that either?  Doesn't appear on my Win98 or WinXP machines?

That's what I'm asking about? I don't get that menu you have across the top of the screen. What button pops up that menu to then go to the config of the keys?
All I get when I start a game is - the game running, and I can use F1 that pops up a MISC OPTIONS menu.
I don't see that menu you have shown in your screen shot.

I think I'm missing someting VERY simple... I think I need a coffee!!

You need to run the Zsnesw executable without running a game.  To do this, just go to the folder where Zsnes is and double clikc the zsnes icon.  Then it will start with the menu and no game.
