Problems with Goodtools (Goodwin 2.4)--help.
« on: December 18, 2003, 10:43:13 am »
I have been running the Goodtools program (windows version) through my romsets and it has worked fine, except for when I have tried to run it for my Super Nintendo roms.  I tried to run it, but it didnt work and now everytime I click on the Super Nintendo roms folder to run a check, I get an error message.  I have downloaded another version of the GoodWindows program, but I get the same results.  Is this a bug with Goodtools or has anyone else had success running it with Super Nintendo?  Is there anything else I can try to get this to work--downloading the program again doesnt work.  Do I need to do something to the roms folder that is causing the problem?  Any suggestions are welcome.  Thanks.

Dbut,

The error that I get is something to the effect:  An error has occured with the program and it forces you to shut down.  It happens immediately when I select the Super Nintendo roms folder.  I have tried redownloading the GoodWin program, but I get the same results.  That's why I thought perhaps it had something to do with the folder of roms itself.  Have any idea what that could be or what I could change to get it to run?  If downloading the program again didnt work, not sure where to go from here.

Have you just updated GoodSNES.EXE or tried to run GoodSNES on it own.

Just went to http://www.emuhq.com/ Aparentlly your not the only one who is having trouble.
The recent releases of the Good Tools don't work with GoodWindows. So you will need an old version of GoodSNES or you will have to do the check manually from DOS.
I have an old version witch explains why it works for me.

DBut,

Thanks for the reply.  That would explain it.  I tried to search the internet for some older versions of GoodSNES, but I was not successful.  Is it possible to get sent a copy of your older version of GoodSNES?  I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks.

Have you placed the zlib.dll (I think that's what it's called) into your system directory?

Yes, I placed it into the GoodWindows folder.  It works for most systems, it is just the Super Nintendo one that it doesnt work for.  Strange.  But DBut's explanation probably clears it up, I would hope that they update GoodWindows sometime so that it works for all new goodtools files.
