need some inspiration
« on: December 22, 2014, 03:15:53 pm »
Hello everyone,

at this moment i am working on a minicade arcade cabinet with a 12" monitor in it.
It is about 35x35 cm (13,25 inch), so it is really small.
I am going to use a bright green sanwa joystick and buttons.

I made a design in illustrator in the right scale, i want it to have a sleek look with not too much figures on it.

what do you guys think of it, what else can be added or left out?

Looks nice. Clean and not over crowded with characters. I like it.
The knight character (Arthur?) does stand out from the rest since he's not as "cartoony" as the rest, but I think it works. Well done.

WOW! that looks great! Did you have a build thread on here somewhere? If so, I must have missed it.

no i did not make a build thread, but I took some foto's during the build.

I think it is against the rules to post a new thread once the build is completed?

Nope, no rules like that.

Post away.  You can even post the artwork files for download.  Do you have a cutting diagram, or CNC file? A narrative is enjoyed as well.  Does it play your favorite games?  Was this a gift?

What runs it?  A XXX in 1 or NUC or RasPi?

ok, will post it in the project section, the hardware I used:

intel Mini itx  Atom 230 1.6ghz,
1 gb ram, onboard 256 mb vga,
120 gb ssd, white led light in marquee and green underneath the cabinet
Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT joystick (the best!) and Sanwa OBSN-30 buttons

dimensions: 35x35 cm, there are 2 usb connections on the front and volume control
the design is based upon the verticade, only scaled down a lot, wanted to make the smalles possible bartop with a 12"screen in it.
Made a design in illustrator before the build.

I have installed windows 7 and Mala, with only mame at the moment, sorted out the games to 3000 at the moment, it runs all my favorites games very well!

and yes it was a gift for me and the kids   ;D
