Time Soldiers "conversion kit" - The Project
« on: December 21, 2014, 06:40:07 pm »
Picked up a Time Soldiers conversion kit for $60 a year or so ago.  Finally have some time to start a new project.

The overall goal with this project is to do a mame conversion so I can play other rotary joystick games but still keep the Time Soldiers look and feel.  The other goal is to maximize the use of existing items that "need a purpose"

Got the basics going this weekend.

My favorite LS-30 game. Looking forward to see your build.

Rotary joystick games list here and related MAME settings here.

Will you be using a KADE and "Mechanical Rotary Joystick" firmware for your rotary encoder?

No.   I already had an ipac2 in my stash of goods so I just added a rotary joystick interface from ultimarc.

A little more progress.

Decased the TV that will be installed for the build.  Also completed the base cabinet.

Next step is to build the TV mounts.

A little more work over the weekend.  Completed the monitor mount and did some prep work for speakers, fans, etc.  Lucked out and found some original Time Soldiers side art on eBay.  Offer of $25 was accepted.

Started a new job so the progress has slowed down.  I did manage to get the side art installed.  Feel pretty fortunate to have managed to get some original side art.  I had some scanned reproductions as a backup but you can't beat originals.
