Panasonic ct-30wx54j HD CRT
« on: December 20, 2014, 08:28:26 pm »
Hi ACers.

I have been messing around with MAME for a while now, using a couple of free Sony Trinitrons I picked locally, and while I'm getting pretty good results, it dawned on me that I have a beautiful Panasonic ct-30wx54j HD CRT buried at the back of my junk room. The best info I could find on it is here:

http://www.manualslib.com/manual/191880/Panasonic-Ct-30wc14.html?page=6#manual

The TV has two component and one s-video inputs. A couple of questions:

1. I built a VGA-to-SCART-to-Component converter 'cable' for use with the Trinitrons, and was wondering if it would be the better choice for hooking up to the Panasonic. I don't have an s-video cable to do a comparison myself, and don't want to throw out the cash for one if I don't have to.

2. Is there any benefit at all to using GroovyMame/VMMaker/OSDArcade for this TV? If so, why so, and how would I go about config'ing these programs so as not to fry the TV (the wife would kill me if I did... the picture on this baby is stunning... it's simply too bulky for use in our living room. Not to mention that it only has about 20 hours of use on it.)

Thanks for your thoughts.
