I check Shepard Fairey's website fairly often to see if the next upcoming poster interests me.

He's the guy that got in trouble for using an AP photo in his Obama campaign poster(and then lied about it).
He regularly puts up signed and numbered prints for a reasonable price (and they're on ebay for $200 the next day).
I'm not a fan of everything, but occasionally he has a propaganda style print that speaks to me.

You already beat me to Brute! but he's nothing without KMFDM.  I did a personal rip off of his "Messiah" painting that was a piece of particle board put through all kinds of abuse, painted white, an overlay of his graphic slapped on it over Donkey Kong blue, and then coated with lacquer, varathane, and left to rot out in the sun for awhile.  The only comment I've received on it has been, "cool, Charlie Manson."

I took a five second glance at one of this guy's exhibits and said, "that looks like crap that washes up on the beach in South Texas" and saw he grew up in Corpus Christi and has made a career out of it.  Kudos.

I go back and forth on this guy.  His installation at Rice University doesn't do anything for me, but his things at the Houston Museum of Fine Art were pretty cool.

Actually, I've thought about bugging Opt2Not to do a signed and numbered run of the Galaga ship from his Alpha One cab on either a Galaga or Gravitar style space background.  I bet enough people would want it to make it worthwhile.  Not sure how far past the sketching phase he is at this point.

I thought about this a while ago, and might do it later on when things calm down.  It really feels like things never calm down...

But yeah, the sketching phase is as far as that particular Galaga ship has gone, but I've had to do several versions of it for other commissions in the last little while. So finishing that one off it's that far-fetched.

I've been talking to a few of my artist buddies that create art for fan expo's and comic cons, etc. They usually get booths set-up, and tell me it's pretty decent coin, if the subject matter hits that "fan nerve".  Just this past year, Frozen has been the big fan favourite, netting one of my buddies $3000+ a weekend on art sales.
I'm really considering doing something similar for the retro-gaming and arcade conventions, like PAX or Northwest Pinball & Arcade Show, since they're usually held close to where I'm at. Plus I do go down to California to visit the in-laws every year, and there are a few conventions down there I could join. 

I'd have to show up with at least a dozen different prints, which as you guys know, takes time.

I framed and hung the white owlage proof in my house on Wednesday
I dig it because although it was done in illustrator (after scanning in a sketch), it's not symmetrical and the layers of ink are thick and of varying textures so it looks very handmade and very far from a poster.  It does look like a washed out mess from some angles if the light is glaring off of it, so I see why he (she?) went with black instead.  It works well where I have it.

I'm more than a bit biased since I've been friends with the artist for over 25 years, but Shannon Cannings's stuff always impresses me. Love that she can do so much with color, light, and transparency with oil on canvas. Happy to say I own 2 paintings of hers. She was very into realism for quite some time, with some impressionistic work more recently.
