  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
Hello all,

I am baffled. spent the day trying to make things work, i really don't know what is wrong...

Okay so here it my setup:

HP Dc7900 computer  - VGA wire - soft15khz dongle - UMSA with a 5Volt powersupply at 1Amp- Scart to YUV converter - NTSC TV

I am getting colors, and they look nice. The picture on the other hand is VERY distorted. It's rolling, up, down, sideways, the image is all warped... let me show you a video on youtube of it:

I really don't know what else to do.. i actually have 2 UMSA's and 2 Edid dongles. tested both and i am always getting the same result on the TV.

The emulator i am running it on right now is groovyume.

It's becoming a pain to setup up, always connecting, disconnecting the CRT to the VGA monitor and rebooting.

Anyone has a solution, or a suggestion? i would greatly appreciate it.

thanks in advance

thats a hell of chain . im suprised it outputs anything at all . the umsa was designed to simplify connecting a pc to scart rgb . why dont u take a well working known gc like one of the radeon 4xxx modells + crt emudriver and connect it directly to a rgb-yuv converter via15 pin sub d cable ? i guess u dont have a scart rgb tv or an old pc-atari-amiga multisync crt at hand . would help a lot to narrow down ur probs .

ur problem can be related to lots of things . maybe issues with the resolution , refrehrate or sync . have u tried changing the sync jumper on the umsa pcb ?
