CP Artwork Feedback
« on: December 06, 2014, 07:37:16 pm »
I wasn't sure if I should put this here or in my build thread. But, I'll start here.. I'm not sure how many are familiar with my build, but I'm working on a CP that is an amalgamation of two panels (Roadblaster and Championship sprint). I cut them up and re-assembled them. My goal is to have 2 steering wheels (right and left) and a star war yoke in the middle. Here is what the CP looks like raw:

I wanted to do something like the Star Wars arcade game and I kind of wanted to keep a blue-vs-red theme (a la Championship Sprint). At any rate, I had a couple of hot minutes to sit down and play around and It's lead me to this. It is still rough, but helps give a sense of where I'm going.

My plan is to use square buttons. I also have rectangular ones I could use. However, they are a bit taller than the square ones, so probably just going to go square. But, if you notice the rectangular "buttons" near the top corners of the CPO; those are the same size as the physical buttons. Here is a pic of some I picked up.

I highlighted the physical buttons on the CP to help clarify which are real (or will be real) and which are just part of the overlay (1 coin, 1 start and 2 buttons per player and 2 admin buttons for 8 total buttons):

I'm planning on making the "ribs" tighter/better (the parts that extend out from each wheel/yoke), this was just for placement and trying stuff out. I'm also thinking of making the top button areas more like the star wars overlay (darker and square). Not sure though, so I welcome some feedback and/or suggestions.

I made some progress on this over the last couple of days. If there is any feedback feel free to share. Probably going to do a test printing tomorrow to see if I need to tweak the brightness/darkness.

Looks good. I like the console panel look as opposed to, say, a ton of unrelated characters vomited onto a Tron grid.

great idea with the artwork! it really integrates well with your control panel  :applaud: a nice fresh approach
My art is always free for you to download and modify as you see fit...
Why?... because I could never find any art I loved on the net. So I played around with Photoshop and wish to share it with the arcade community.
