Project Raiden: ????Gun
« on: November 29, 2014, 07:40:26 pm »
Hello everybody,

I first would like to say thanks for everyone in the forums for sharing their projects and giving me inspiration to make my own. I decided to make a SuperGun as my first project. Most of you probably know what that is but if not, below is a link to a description:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SuperGun

Below is my initial draft

It's a pretty simple layout but with tons of functionality. Each seimitsu button has been modded with the Uila S Flash LED module bought from Paradise Arcade Shop. These modules will be connected to an LED-Wiz.

The buttons will be connected to 2x akishop ps360+ pcb giving an interface between the buttons and the PC. It will also give me the option to play on various gaming consoles.

The PC mentioned is an Intel Nuc i5, HD5000 with 16GB of ram.

Below is a picture of my completed work I've done today for the joystick.

Some more pics of the whole SuperGun

Details on my journey will come later, but if there are any questions, I'll be glad to answer them.

That is, most definitely, NOT a supergun.

Yeah, Neph's right, if you get technical, it's not a Supergun without the JAMMA capability.

It's just a MAME in a box. Nothing more.

Mega > Ultra?

Your logic is sound.  I withdraw my suggestion.

So what about being JAMMA makes the damn thing "super" anyway? Why isn't it called the OneHitWonderGun?

I didn't coin the term. A supergun isn't a gun either. :P

^^  this.
Superguns, wired to the JAMMA standard, are used to play actual game PCB's, not mame.  This is a Mame & Console box, plain and simple.

Also rather than coming in here and hating on the misnomer, here's some actual advice: As of Nov 12th, Akishop released a firmware that fixes the PSX connectivity issues. AND just today, they've released a test version of the firmware to support SNES and NES connectivity.

Make sure to upgrade your PS360+'s firmware if you're going want to support multiple consoles.

(and stop calling this a Supergun)  ;)
