Is this CRT worth anything to anyone?
« on: November 29, 2014, 03:07:45 pm »
So when I first started this project (several years ago, then life happened) I wanted to have a genuine arcade feel so I did everything I could to keep the original monitor.  This required re-capping the board and even replacing the tube (just so happened to find a Toshiba TV that used the same tube on craigslist).  Well I eventually got it all working but I was never completely satisfied with the results.  Here are some photos of the screen.  I've tried degaussing but this is about as good as it gets.  Also, its hard to tell from the pictures but the very top of the screen, the lines seem to smoosh together.  Would this monitor be worth anything to anyone else, or are these issues as permanent as they seem?  I know CRTs are hard to come by so I'm hesitant to just toss it, but there are other factors that have made me decide to switch such as wanting to incorporate newer games that simply won't play at the low resolution available on this screen.
