Gateway EV700 Monitor Acting Up
« on: December 16, 2003, 09:37:22 am »
Now, I found this monitor in a dumpster, so I expected it to have some problems.  When I powered it up and it displayed a crystal clear picture, I thought I would have no worries, and it replaced my old 15".

A little while later little lines would appear thru the picture.  They would eventually clear up.  I thought perhaps that was why the monitor was binned.

Now the monitor will cut out with no warning whatsoever.  I had to go back to my old 15" blurry mess yesterday (although I swapped them back today, and have had no problems).

It would cut out after perhaps a minute.  I'm thinking that something in there is heating up and expanding, but then the video signal is getting cut off.

When I crack this baby open, where should I start looking first?

Anyone?  It's getting rather annoying.

I'm not sure if this gets thrown around on this board a lot (just checking the monitor board tonight cause i'm bored at work on a shift i don't normally take).  Have you looked through the alt.sci.tech tv / monitor repair FAQ?  everything i've ever had problems with was in there.  I focused the 21" mag i found in a dumpster (and it's now my cab's monitor!) and i've also found a few other helping tips in there.

I just checked out alt.sci.tech, and there were eight messages - all Spam.  Where is the FAQ?
