Roms issues
« on: November 21, 2014, 06:43:18 am »
Hi!

I have just created a live USB with groovyMame.

Some (lots) of roms aren't recognized or have launching issues.

The websites says that the rom should be emulate with mame.
Here is [deleted again] example:

Why doesn't it work ? Is it because of mame, the rom ?
What roms really works ?

Thanks ion advance :)

Hi nsvir,

Sorry but posting links to rom files is not allowed.

The problem downloading single game roms is that some files are missing, because they are shared between clones of that game but just included in one of them. Other systems require their bios files too in order to run.

Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.

I could be wrong, but I'm not so sure this is an appropriate place to ask about what roms you need as you may not be able to get anyone to help you.
I'd suggest reading the forum rules here: http://arcadecontrols.com/arcade_message_rules.html

Best thing to do is to run Mame directly from the command line.  When you tell it a rom to use, it will report back which parent rom you also need to supply.

And a good rule of thumb is the ROM name will likely be the most simplest of the names.

For instance, The Simpsons is simply "simpsons.zip" - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is "tmnt.zip"

When you see things like simpsons4pu, tmnt4a etc, you're not dealing with the base ROM.
