Converting videos for use on XBOX 360. Any suggestions ?

Does anyone know of a good video converter so I can play videos through my XBOX 360 ? Looking for something simple and free. Any tips, tricks, feedback are welcome.

Second vote for Handbrake.  I've used it a lot for my Xbox and never had a problem.
