Tetris cocktail/coffee table... project #5 finished!
« on: October 27, 2014, 03:30:13 pm »
Using parts of (at least) three trashed cabs, with a knockoff SNES inside, and a 19" TV crammed in with no room to spare....

(sorry for the vid quality... off-the-cuff narration is not my strong point)

Things I forgot to mention:

1. black vinyl on sides and under glass (the sides are reclaimed wood, the rest is oak ply that I bought)
2. vents on bottom, one of which has a pc-style vent fan on it to bring air up into the cab
3. wood for top is the bottom piece from a treadmill (FYI, a lot of treadmills have a nice sheet of mdf inside the belt)
4. I like the color, but ideally I wanted the wood almost black with just a little bit of grain showing. But even with many many coats of ebony stain, that was as dark as I could get it. My first time staining so it was a learning experience.
5. Even at the lowest setting, the Atari hardware doesn't quite get low enough for comfortable play from the couch. May be an excuse to get a new couch.

Completed projects: Pac bartop (Plug & Play), 30th Anniversary Pac cab (MAME), Point Blank (PS1), Centipede (arcade hardware- light restore), VS. Super Mario Bros (arcade hardware- light restore) Tetris Cocktail (SNES), Arcade Classics upright (60-in-1, then MAME), Multi-Raiden (arcade hardware). Pac Man vs.(Gamecube),

Working on: Pinball Re-theme, Homebrew arcade arena shooter

+1  Clean build.  Nice work.  Looks like it would be "wife approved" as well since it fits in with normal furniture!
