ArcadeFX- problem with GUI positioning and .ini
« on: December 13, 2003, 09:10:07 pm »
Hi, maybe some people can help me out.  I'm gathering that the ArcadeFX front end isn't supported anymore.  It's a shame, I've found it very easy to use- and I really like the skinning feature.

The problem I'm having is with the interactive placement of the GUI items themselves.  I am running it in 1024 x 768 mode, and I've moved all my items where I want them.  When I shut down the FE and re-open it, it's as if the changes I made were not saved to the .ini file.

If I manually change the values in the .ini, and I shut down and restart AFX, it resets everything to the previous values.

I have found that if I make the .ini file read only, that it can't reset the file, and this doesn't seem to create an error.  If this is the way it has to be, fine- but there are a couple of items that don't have position options in the .ini file.  The game title, alphabet letter of the games, and game number (i.e. 23 of 150).  If I can get those into the position I want them- I'm done.

I've posted this problem to the ArcadeFX forum, but it doesn't appear anyone even visits there hardly anymore.  I've thought about contacting Ed, but I don't want to bother the guy if he's dropped the project.  I really like his FE. :)

Hopefully someone here can help me out.  My suspicion is that I'm going to have to change the resolution/skin to 800x600...

Yoru going to have to bother Ed... ArcadeFx is almost 2 years old and it hasn't been altered since the first 4-5 months.  I think it could be considered a very dead project and I don't know of anyone who uses it anymore.

He's a nice guy so don't sweat it.  :)

Ironically enough Howard, last night I downloaded your Dragon King.  Very cool, and I'm probably going to switch to it.  If Ed can't help me out. :)

Yeah.  Ed also uses a database (nice feature for special sorts) but he didn't add the add to database app..

So you can't use the latest mame with it.... He updated a few on the the wepsite... but I don't know the last version.

I would look at a few others that are out there.
